Hello!
I don't know about you but we certainly made a lot of memories this last month! Birthday celebrations, concerts, car trouble, visiting family, made some new friends and of course a cattle show.
Bummer, my car of almost 10 years decided to quit (permanently) on the way to Junior Nationals. We had to pivot, plans and vehicles for a few weeks but I now have a better car. A metaphor for life, things never go according to plan, best to always pray for the best and it will all work out.
A week was well spent at our last National Junior Angus Show. My kids are the 4th generation in our family to show cattle but the first generation to attend Junior Nationals of any breed. They are special. A week long family camp. It took some convincing from our dear friends to go to that very first Maine/Chi Junior Nationals back in 2018. If you show cattle, make plans to go at least once. It didn't always work for us to take cattle, we had to pivot many times, but our kids participated. They won contests and lost contests, had the most fun in quiz bowl, learned how to fit, served as junior board members, a queen, and most importantly, we all made memories and friends to last a lifetime.
This next year will be the last go round in the ring for us as our youngest ages out. Everyone in this deal knows how incredible it is. It is so much more than the backdrops and I am glad our kids are able to have the experience. When it is all over it will be the people I will miss the most. Going to watch the show and showing in the show are two very different experiences. For now, I will soak it all in and enjoy all the "lasts" this last year.

The ponds are full after the Super El Niño we are experiencing in the Midwest this summer! Remember if your barns or coops get sour from the rain you can spray them with Ag Formula 500X. It reduces odor and will for long periods if the barn is not housing animals. If it is housing animals, a weekly or as needed spray may be needed. Remember, any type of barn or cool room can be sprayed. Safe for any species and will not affect hair or hide.
More uses for Ag Formula 500X around the farm:
It is not a fly repellent but I do notice less flies in the barn since we use this product. The animals will have flies on them but less flies overall in the barn. We are using this in the show barn, cattle barn and calving barn (which doesn't regularly house cattle).
Since the product consumes organics, if you have a stump needing to be removed in your yard, spray and speed up the progress of decomposition.
Take back more of your pasture when spraying across your field. The product speeds up the breakdown of animal waste. You may not even need a harrow. If you pasture is overcrowded, this really helps! Recommended 1 gallon/acre and can be combined with fertilizer or chemical prior to application. Can also be sprayed in the pasture with grazing livestock.
If you are a pet owner, spraying Ag Formula 500X on areas in your yard with pet waste will speed up the decomposition. This helps you, your yard and your pets! It can also be sprayed on litter boxes to help control odor.
Spraying your fields and pastures improves the microbial activity which speeds the breakdown of organic material making more nutrients available to the plants, grasses and crops. It also mellows the soil.
Gardens and flower beds can also be sprayed and will experience all the benefits above. Works especially well if you use manure fertilizer.
