Summer!! And Happy 250th, America!!
Sitting here the first of July, with temperatures soaring, we are right in the middle of summer! I am soaking it all up and enjoy the fun times in between all the work. Even having the most daylight of the year, there still are not enough hours in the day to finish it all but darned if we aren't going to try!
The cattle keep us busy. We had a very wet spring. Cattle were moved to fresh pastures, calves weaned and even a couple of newbies in the show barn. One big heifer is still in the barn, awaiting junior nationals. Putting up hay is in the works now.
My mom and sister amaze me, each have the most beautiful gardens. Mom's champion vegetable garden is producing an abundance of vegetables. Amy grows the most beautiful flowers in her flower garden and sells them in the flower shop. Both are doing an outstanding job carrying on the gardening legacy passed down from my Grandma Graham. A little more on the gardens later.
For now, wishing the best of luck to everyone working hair on show cattle, weeding gardens, bailing hay and everything in between! Enjoy the picnics, sunshine and fireworks as we all come together to celebrate this great nation of ours!! 🇺🇸🎆 ♥️🤍💙

The vegetable garden and flower garden mentioned above both start off with several skid loader buckets of cattle manure. The manure is cured in piles John pushes up throughout the year from cleaning out barns and lots. The manure was tilled in to blend deep into the soil.
Both plots were treated with Ag Formula 500X to help break down the manure and the organic matter in the garden. It was sprayed across the soil with a hand held garden sprayer.
